NGO Work
Over the years, I have worked a lot with local NGO’s, especially the Aga Khan Foundation, which is the most influential NGO in the Pamir knot region. My contacts there are essential to the good planning and organization of the trip. Some projects that I have been involved in are:

Multimedia workshop, production of documentary film on the “Roof of the World Festival” in Khorog, Tajikistan. Exhibition “Culture and Nature – the pillars of our life”, sponsored by DED (German Development Agency)
2006
AKF-A (Aga Khan Foundation), Afghanistan
Photography and trekking research for the first ecotourism brochure on the Wakhan Corridor and the Afghan Pamir, highlighting the area’s potential for tourism.
2003
IUCN (World Conservation Union), Pakistan
Ecotourism Consultant and Photographer for the MACP (Mountain Areas Conservancy Project) sponsored by WWF, UNDP and Government of Pakistan amongst others. Scope of work included research and identification of ecotourism itineraries.
2001

National Geographic Channel/Sony, spokesman for a product collaboration followed by a photo exhibition in Indonesia.

Asia Society, Hong Kong, lecture on Pakistan and Afghanistan’s mountain regions
Le Grand Bivouac (France’s biggest mountain film festival), two presentations on my cross-borders adventures in Afghanistan and Pakistan
